Geoff Prestwich has had a lifelong interest in photography. He and his family moved to Cumbria in 1971 for a better quality of life and to indulge their passion for fell walking and Geoff’s love of photography. Throughout the 1970s Geoff documented life in Bassenthwaite Village where he lived before moving to Blencogo. Here he has continued to expand his stunning portfolio of work. Geoff’s photographs have appeared in calendars and on the front pages of a number of magazines and been used to illustrate a variety of articles.

Geoff Prestwich was a Blencogo resident for many years, he died towards the end of 2020, but his photographs live on. Geoff had a lifelong interest in photography. Geoff’s shot of ‘The Borrowdale Shepherd’ was voted the winner in a competition to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Lake District National Park. Over the years Geoff worked hard to document life in this rural community and to capture events that make up the history of the village of Blencogo. It is a privilege to be able to showcase a selection of Geoff’s work on our website.
